Jean Roulet 'Presidents Clock' in the Shape of an Armillary Sphere

£1,950.00

A beautifully gilded desk clock with perpetual calendar, moon-phase and an adjustable world time ring in the shape of an armillary sphere or astrolabe made by Jean Roulet, Le Locle in Switzerland. This model was the top of the range and known as the ‘President’ clock presumably because of the presence of one in the Oval Office on the corner of the Resolute Desk under Ronald Reagan.

The early quartz movement is housed behind the brushed silver dial which displays the date, month and day of the week with the time on an outer roman chapter, the whole clock rotates on a central axis. This clock is ‘As New’ having never been run and was bought from a jeweller as new old stock, and comes with it’s original presentation case.

Jean Roulet made clocks for retailers such as Tiffany, Cartier, and Asprey’s as well as examples like this under their own label, this clock dates from the 1980’s and is of exceptional quality.
